Hmm ! anyone bought one of these. The price is Good, ? the specs look ok as well, I have bought a few things from Kogan, like Mobile phones, Televisions , etc, and have been very pleased with prices and quality, and service,
Looking at the specs it only gives a current draw of 6Amps on 12V. If it stays at that then its going to be a bit power hungry. Most other fridges that use a Danfoss compressor will start at 6 amp then when the temp gets down will change the compressor speed to give about 3Amp draw. The price is certainly cheep enough but for me theres not enough information on the site?
I also have been happy with my purchases from Kogan but i always think that you only ever get what you pay for. i.e. if its cheap there is probably a reason for it.
Hi, Tezza, yep I agree [ slightly ? ] However We get ripped off a lot in Australia, always have, Being in Europe for 3 months really opened my eyes to how much we do get ripped off,
''ie' I bought a mobile phone [ samsung ] before i went O'seas . Telstra wanted $689 [Phone only] I got same phone from Kogan $379 + Del. When i got to Germany, very same phone worked out to $338.00 AU
Also I am a Jim Beam Bourban drinker, In Aus, the best i can get is $35 [ $70 FOR 2 special ] Yet I was buying the Same 700ml bottle from supermarkets in Germany for $14.40 a bottle -- So who is ripping off the Aussies,
Throughout Europe I found that most of the things we are led to believe, about Aust having the best and cheapest, is simply Not true, Even the fruit and Veg, were Very good quality, and pricing once converted to AU were very similar Chicken and Pork, were very good in quality, and cheaper than Aus, HOWEVER, ? Beef, and Lamb, was very expensive compared to ours, however quality was just as good,
So I suppose some times if something is cheap maybe we are getting what we pay for, However When it is a Brand name and same phone model Like Samsung, or Jim Beam Bourban in the same size Bottle,, SOMEONE ??? is ripping us off ?
Press the "SET" button to enter economy running mode, the ECO indicator green LED light will be on. Press the button again; the unit will enter the maximum running mode (HH) MAX indicator red LED light will be on.
The economy mode runs the compressor at a lower speed to save power; the maximum mode runs the compressor at a higher speed increasing power usage. Maximum mode is useful if the ambient temperature is over 30°C or fast cooling is required.

Thanks for that Info DeBe, I am not a tech wizard when it comes to Portable fridges, However i am ready to buy one, and compared to what i have seen at Ray's and BCF, etc, this one looked cheap [ and NOT being one of the big name brands it probaly is ] So I think i had better do some homework and try to understand exactly what is what,
Back around 1998 we purchased a Everycool frig from them loved the size, ease of using, squater sharp made the frig more friendly.
Then after repeated returning the frig back to the sales area they called me into office and told me in no uncertain terms the frig will not have any more work done on it and offered to put a new improve motor on it for nearly the price of a new one.
The frig lasted about a weekend or 2 and then when you went to use it the next time it would fail another trip from Brisbane to the Sunshine coast and then I found I was taking it to Gold Coast to have it repaired. It then become the most expensive Esky that I every owned.
I think the company of similar name back in the 80s and 90s is not related to EvaKool around today. This is documented in another forum somewhere on the WWW with fridges of atrocious reputation. I've got two Evakool Fridgemate FM55 fridges and know a lot of other people who use them without problems. The Evakool fridges have a Danfoss compressor and are pretty good on power. As far as Kogan is concerned we bought a convection microwave for well under $200 it works ok, but has some inconvenient features but you get what you pay for, a name brand convection microwave is around $600 so we can put up with the inconvenience.

Have had a waeco 55 ltr fridge/freezer for 8 years, and in that time its done thebig lap. been to the Cape a couple of times and many rough 4wd roads. Draws about 5 amps start up , and down the 2.5 when cold. Only trouble was the 12v plug corroding , so I bypassed it.I think There are many good fridges about , but you also have to have good batterys and charge systems.Goes down to -18c on full freeze. Would buy another, bigger perhaps. Bill
You know sometimes one needs to take chance and looking at that frig it would be very suitable replacement for our 2nd hand very old becoming less reliable ingal frig (did spell it wrong for a reason). Mostly only use it for picnics and a bit of food as we leave home from empty the home frig.
I have a Techniice 65L car fridge/freezer that I bought online 18 months ago after a good friend raved about his. I have to say that it is a great unit, powered by Danfoss and backed by a nationwide warranty. Not as cheap as the Kogan unit, but much cheaper than Waeco or Engel and highly recommended. If you are interested go to: www.techniice.com/car-fridges-1.html

Danfoss compressors can run at several different speeds for different service requirements and they use more power and provide more cooling at the higher speeds.
It's not all about compressor . The insulation counts big time too . One thing we've learnt . Is the size can be a pain s in too large ! Or more the point .. Find or organize an area the fridge can be stored .. Our Companion 60l is doing fine . Yes it's one of the cheap freezers . Only issues we've had is when some one borrows it and runs a suspect generator to run them !! Lucky for warranty .. Another I noticed at repair shop is the amount of corroded and dirty freezers that have been on rear of trucks etc . I asked how old they are ? He said 18 months old . Hell they looked 20 year old !! Salt air, in open etc (OO) !!
