Meckering Freecamp - 130 East of Perth WA

This freecamp is right in the centre of town between the Memorial Park and water pipeline, toilets open 24/7 with disabled access and town water. (no showers).  Dogs allowed on lead.   General store in same street with photo's of earthquake damage etc, servo across the road with dining room/take away etc.

130km east of Perth on Gt Northern Hwy, very popular spot, heaps of room expecially for big rigs, pc & phone reception ok.

Pipe & railway line exhibit and photo's in gazebo in Memorial Park next to RV area.

Meckering on the Great Eastern Highway in WA is an interesting place, I always stop there on my way to Kalgoorlie which is also an interesting place, we still have a family home in Kal a stones throw from the Railway station.  Love going there when I want and also to the farm in Salmon Gums.  A lot of interesting places to see in the wheatbelt and Goldfields....Kisha

I've only ever driven past Salmon Gums Kisha but never stayed there, I understand the CP is worth staying there.

I drove into the inland area there once years ago, saw the biggest wedge tail eagle ever take off right in front of me, it was huge compared to others I have seen.  smile

A link had been posted in the WA free and budget camp section, to this topic

I was there overnight in March 2017

Flushing toilets, water, and dump point

They are building an addition at the toilets

I was pleasantly surprised to find one only piece of rubbish, in the camp area, which I picked up and placed in the bin

As I got there after dark, and left very early, I do not know what the new building will be, as the girl in the servo did not know very much, when I fuelled up next morning
