I have today purchased 3 car windscreen sun shades that I intend to utilize on our van. We have 4 windows that have no protection from the sun,. I intend to run a track above the windows, cut the shades to suit and then sow a thin rope in one end to slide into the track channel to repel the heat in the summer. It works on the car, so why can not it work on the van. Our van is insulated, but the door and windows are giant heaters in the summer.
I made some large 'rubber bands' out of 1" wide elastic and slip these over the opened window then slip the sun shade in b/w the elastic and the window. Two on each window ensures the sunshade stays put. Does make a big difference

Thanks for the tip on elastic. I have placed a shade cloth channel above each window and will slide the shade thru same and use the elastic for the bottom of the window.

I have done the same with the large windows on my van ....but used double-sided tape on one and stick on Velcro tabs on other. Makes closing and opening window easy. and can be removed if needed.
I cut down a car screen to fit the two hatches in the bathroom. sewed some binding around them and attached Velcro dots. Reverse Velcro around the hatch, and hay presto, instant sunblock - really good to put up when travelling, Keeps the bathroom cooler.
Our windows in the van have blinds that are block out, we always travel with them up to keep the van cooler.

Mmmm, wondering ... Would the Velcro strips be strong enough to hold the screens in pace whilst in motion, or would one be best taking them down ??

What I do if I need temporary protection from the sun on the van windows is to simply peg 1 or 2 tea-towels on the outside of the raised window .. (it's only temp.)
I have attached a few pics of what I use when I'm parked up longer than a few days and need the protection on the offside. Have put up a rope slide for quick attachment and use a singular 13 ft shade .. this also protects the rear of the fridge area but also allows a breeze to flow across the side of the van ..
