I think some of the pics were from Fraser island and Rainbow beach in QLD. Both are famous for guys who try to get round headlands on an incoming tide. There are some beautys there. Up in the gulf country, I have seen guys leave their cars til the dry season, months later.Love the one of the cop car. Even cops get bogged! Have alook at the "all for 4 adventure" bogged secquence. The tractor one brings back memories!! Phil did that seeding one year at Grass Patch near Esperance. New 4 wd tractor, go anywhere!! Boss said just go thru the sinkholes, you'll be right. He was for the first couple then one got him. Tractor had to sit there till hole dried out 3 months later. And he had to bring the old slightly smaller tractor and seeder that was down at the other farm to finish seeding. Needless to say he gave anything that looked like a sink hole a wide berth.

The thing that I love, is Frasier Island..

Many a car get bogged in the creek crossings. There are a few Spot's that are popular to get the 4x4 buried..
A friend spent a few years on the island working at the ocean side resort and he said that the 1 main tow truck was pretty much parked on the hill above one of the main creek crossing..
There are plenty of signs that say Do NOT stop in the creek..
but what do they do.. Stop in the creek to wash the underside of the 4x4 of the salt from the beach run's..

- if the 4x4 is a rental car, and you have paid for insurance you end up signing over the insurance refund to the tow truck operator..

Or if you own it.. you better be quick with the card as the price get's higher if you argue with the driver..

- I believe 1 stories goes of a Mercedes 4x4 owner arguing with the initial cost of $750 to get pulled out yeah I know.. a bit much.. But apparently by the time he decided to pay it was $2500 and the Merc was up to the sill's in the sand of the creek..

due to the signage on the creek crossing's if you Lose the car in the Creek the Insurance companies Will no pay out for Buried car's..

The towtruck driver was a bit like a vulture perched on the hill eh? I'd love to go there and when he gave them the price, offer to winch them out for a carton of beer, just to p*ss him off. We've rescued a few unfortunate novice 4WDers on the beach when bogged at the waterline, or in the soft stuff in the dunes, but never thought of holding them to ransom like that.
