Woman Stops Grizzly Attack With 25 Caliber Pistol!

I used to take a .22 Single shot Rifle when I went walking on Cape York.  Had to kill a fair sized Pig one day, as the dogs had it bailed up in a thicket. [One on each ear.]   They wouldn't come off it, so I had to shoot it.  Had to cut it in half to lift it onto the back of the Tojo when I came back for it.

You had to keep an eye out for Scrub Bulls at that time too.

Cheers,

Sheba.

This is a story of self-control and marksmanship with an "itsy bitsy shooter" by a woman facing a fierce predator.

What is the smallest caliber you trust to protect yourself?

The 25 cal. Beretta Jetfire:

Here's her story:

While out hiking in Alberta Canada with my husband we were surprised by a huge grizzly bear charging at us from out of nowhere.

She must have been protecting her cubs because she was extremely aggressive.

If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire with me, I would not be here today!

Just one shot to my husband's knee cap was all it took.

The bear got him and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace.

It's one of the best pistols in my collection.

Handy little things, .22s, but I would rather a bit more caliber, such as a .308. for pigs and especially scrub bulls. I Have .410 / 22 long Remington over under , these days . The .410 solids will stop pigs, and the 22 is good for goats and rabbits. Don't shoot native animals. Bill

Unbearable! When I was in the US, they called these little guns "Saturday night specials", as ladies would keep them in their purses, and shoot their spouses who found fragrant delecto, on Saturday night!..................And you could buy them over the counter for $25.Thats freedom for you! Bill

What we were amazed to see when we were over in good old US of A ,was you would walk into a gun shop and it was as busy as the Myer boxing day sales. The kids guns come colour coded like blue or pink. . A lot of kids down Texas way is all they want for Christmas is a new gun.

Do not know if it still happens over there after so many school shootings, but shooting was part of their school curriculum.

The guys i work with here who have come out for some of this project, tell me they are starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not being allowed to bring their guns over and not carrying one on them.
