Constructed out of high density styrofoam aluminium clad panels, (37mm) laser cut to shape and cutouts for windows, doors, hatches etc.
We designed it inside and out, and as a "techie" helped with some of the construction methods, wiring, plumbing and fixture installations. It took one year to manufacture as this was a prototype development for future production and everything was cut or made from scratch, no templates or CadCam available, however production will now never happen, so this is a one off. We really enjoyed being part of the process of the build and have documented pictures of the build from a chassis to it rolling out the door, a lot of time spent in the workshop discussing, modifying, and adapting even at the last moment with the van loaded for us to go off on our travels the axles had to be upgraded due to a change in the manufacturing laws. The good thing about being part of the build is that I know where everything is and where it was connected, should the need arise.
The tug is a 200 series V8 TTD, averages around 19 ltr/100 km (whilst towing) at 95 kph which I am delighted with given how heavy she is!!!! Suffice to say like many builds these days there wasn't a lot of room for personal belongings, it was weighed at 3100kg with MOST of the normal "add-on's"...... already on, if that makes sense!! (W/machine, solars, additonal batteries, water in tanks, tv, bbq, etc..etc..etc..) Anyway, she is what she is and this is home for the next however many years.
We are indeed very proud, but also see ourselves as very fortunate to have been able to have been so actively involved in our home. Although it was at times extremely frustrating it was indeed a fantastic excercise and great experience. I noted from you profile that you too have seen some adventure in the numerous modes of travel that you have owned, I enjoy so much reading other people experiences. Thankyou for your comment.

What an excellent example of a custom build. As Duh said you should be very proud . Cheers Sharke
Thanks Sharke,
As I said previously, we are very proud and equally very humbled at having the opportunity to have been so involved in this project.
I know there are many, many people that would love to get "truly" involved but with bigger company manufacturing processes it's just not possible, we were very fortunate in that we had something to offer the build company in return for our involvement.
See you around the forum
Mark

Funnily enough we had a friend join us for a trip to Karijini NP last year and we all bunked down in the van, cosy but okay, anyway, she said exactly the same. Thanks you for your appreciation of what we have done, much appreciated. And thank's Sheba for the pointing out Pic's 5&6.

As already said Mark, very nice rig, SWMBO did a great job as Chief Advisor...
Now all you have to do is get her to buy you a tug with a higher roof so you don't have to put your head out the window when driving
Jokes aside, good idea putting your head out for a photo, can't see who's who with these modern windscreens/reflections etc.
The electric seat height adjusters were playing up on that day!!
Funny you should mention the windscreen. There was something I was reading the other day in one of the GN newsletters about "The Wave", whether it is just the lifting of a finger or a hearty wave....... not really important to me, but what you have mentioned is very important. I have noticed that sometimes when approaching people coming in the opposite direction, the glare on the windscreen makes it impossible to see the occupants (could be driven by a ghost for all I know!!) Anyway, I always give a wave, but, quite often don't get to see a returned acknowledgement. I wonder how many of us drive around thinking that the other person must be rude, but all the the time it is because we can't actually see each other?? Just a thought. Maybe good for another general question on the forum?
Anyway, thanks again.
Mark
