I agree with you jimdo I had 26 years in the army and if we cannot stop a few boats with a few on board how would we stop a 1000 boats with 150 armed people on board each boat spread out over a large area.

Boat people.!      How is it that they can pay $10.000 each to hop on a bloody leaky boat Get 38 Km from Indonesia's Coast line...Then the Indonesian Authorities ring the Australian Coast guard To inform them of said problem to drop everything and go rescue them.....Why are our Powers that be not asking these questions......Why isn't the Australian Public not asking these same Questions....I for one hate to be treated like an Idiot....I want the truth....Some people Can't handle the Truth

If someone was threatening my family, I would borrow, beg or steal any amount of money, break any law (incidentally, boat people are refugees not illegal, in any way) to get somewhere safer.

Australia's attitude and our politicians, should be ashamed of themselves.

Just give thanks that we were born here, or have Aussie citizenship! Every time I watch the news especially on SBS it is so scary what goes on in other countries.
