OFF TO WA THIS TIME

I don't know if this is an I Digress or travel relevant.

Anyway I'm at Broken Hill tonight, all set to meet an oversize load tomorrow some time, headed for Newman, WA.

Road transport continues to carry this country.

Have a good trip CG - we were coming down the Bruce Hway this afternoon, traffic was stopped on the Burdekin Bridge near Ayr for 3 x 4.5 wide loads - a whole house - pretty impressive to see the escorts at work controlling traffic flow.

Yeah, they're good. Some are better than others, but it's good when everyone works together.
I did a job last week which wasn't so congenial, but I did my best despite the interference of the other lead pilot. I was rear escort for the SA leg. We have a job to do back there as well, but apparently this lead pilot wasn't aware of that.
Another experience for her, AND me.
Coincidentally I was speaking to a lady in the Doc's waiting room yesterday. She's a pilot too, and how's this for coincidence?
The job I took to Whyalla with the interfering pilot was an empty, big truck going to pick up a machine. The lady at the Dr's picked up the job at Whyalla to go to the NT border, She told me she had the same problem with the interfering pilot.
The trouble was, the interfering pilot was the wife of the truck driver, who was a good operator and all round nice bloke.
An interesting experience. Life is full of them.

Damn right! I'm really looking forward to Newman's warmth. The nights are cold out there at this time of the year, but he days can be warm, except when the North West Netball Region conducts it's Regional Championships at Newman.
One year I was umpiring in 2 inches of water, sopping wet, with no warm showers available. I survived, as did the poor players who had to perservere as well.

i have come across some lead pilots who are more dangerous than the load they are leading, swerving infront of oncoming traffic. they will cause a head on one day.
