The "Rhonda" ad has been receiving complaints because it's alleged to be racist. I think that's crap. It is very typical and portrays people quite accurately.
The ad that really gets my goat is the KFC ad with the gooder, goodest and goodification. I did complain about this to the ACMA but they say it's not their department.
I don't care what Dawn French does. I love her performing anything.

If we have to have advertising, let it be informative, interesting and a little bit entertaining, or humorous, but don't let it ever insult our intelligence.

A few weeks ago I was dying with flu, coughing till my sides hurt, eyes streaming and head aching, an on come the funeral ads, one after another.
I know I am fragile and life is a terminal condition, BUT they are such boring ads, devoid of colour and life. In the end I was depressed, but not so much that I wanted to pre-buy my own coffin!
Like you CG, I would prefer entertaining, humorous, or creative or vibrant, which is probably why the Rhonda ad appeals to me.
p.s. I too like Dawn French, but the hair, the hair...... quick I'm reaching for sissors again.
Love Dawn French and everything she does. Great to see how much weight she has lost.
Hate all the funeral adverts except the old guy sitting at his desk with a miniature hearse and coffin on the desk. He is hilarious, could listen to him all day with his quirky jokes. I think he puts it all into perspective with the things he comes out with. So witty.
Ads don't convince me to buy a certain product. It's more about entertainment value for me. I love Dawn French too. As for her hair, it just needs to go a bit shorter, like Denise Drysdale did as she got older. Dawn definitely looks great with all that weight gone.
The ad that really get's me...I don't even know what he's advertising actually...the one where people are rolling around on office chairs and he pushes away a man with a mo and says 'no moustaches'. There's a whole series of the same product.
Yes, the funeral ones are annoying too, but it's the amount of ads in the break in a program that gets me. I don't mind a few ads, it gives me a chance to make a cuppa or go to the loo.

Mrs W is with you rocket, she tapes ALL of her favourite programs now and watches yesterdays program today and fast forwards EVERY ad, she has two recorder's and can copy 4 programs at the same time, but she has to watch the footy live, otherwise I would tell her the final score
Well Dawn French's hair has got you all talking about the ad. That's their aim. If her hair was a bit shorter would you have formed an opinion about the ad, or been discussing it now?
The ad I love is the biscuit ad with the two little boys. Makes me smile and laugh no matter how many times I see it.
I am getting sick of the previews for TV shows which come on continuously prior to the show. I get to the stage that it turns me off wanting to watch that particular show.

the people who make these ads think we are all stupid
I was pulled up in a shopping centre several years ago, by a person doing a survey of ads. It was legit, and I found it very interesting. The main thing that became very obvious to me was that I knew most of the ads she was asking about, but mostly had no idea what they were actually advertising. Maybe it was just me, but I thought they must be doing something wrong.
Harvey Norman ad !! Computers, computers, computers at crazy prices, till stocks last!! no repayments for 1,000 yrs !!! no interest !!! {Small print} must spend $4,000.000 to comply. They really do think we are DUMB don't they
Haven't heard a TV ad since I got a TV with a remote in the 80's ( actually wore the mute function out on every remote we've had ). Hardly Normal has to be the most annoying twerp on TV and I refuse to deal with any business that has annoying television ads. Channel promos are getting to be nearly as irritating as the rest.

I stopped using or local HN (see I cannot even say the name) when they refused to order a product in for me, I wanted a new flight controller and it was just over $600 and the salesman said they do not special order anymore, I later found out that the computer section in that shop was undergoing a managemant change over and the salesman was not sure what was going on, so why did he not tell me that in the first place, they lost me as a customer, although I never really purchase from them anyway.
Those amazing bra ads, are they really bras or just short tight crop tops?
Anyone got one? (No wombat, I don't mean you)
I love the concept of "Buy one for $90, No wait, we'll send you another one absolutely free" ... but I only want one, is that $45 for one.................nope $90 for one, second one is free.
Go into BigW and get one for 29.95, the same Aah bra. My daughter and I bought one each to try, took them back the next day for a refund. Absolutley useless.. Even the girl who gave me the refunds said Yes she had to agree with me, found them a waste of time too.
