Mail Redirection

We are about to head off around Aus. on permanent basis, and would love to hear of any other nomads experiences with mail redirection. We have a permanent Post Office Box  in Victoria, but when you're on the move all the time, I imagine it is going to be a little confusing for the Post Office to redirect.

I don't do it myself but I know a few who have their mail redirected to the next place they will be at. They leave some postal bags at Aus Post where they have their PO Box, probably can only be done if you have a small country Aus Post. Can't imagine the big city ones doing it for you.
Or maybe leave them some money to cover the costs as they have the bags there. You ring them when you know where you are going to be next and get it sent to C/o that Aus Post.

We too have a PO box, and when we are on the road, we purchase several 'bags' from the PO and address them, then they are folded up and left in our box, so as when we email/phone our lovely people at the PO, they then fill a bag (to the spot on the address section) and stick it in the mail for us. We have had no hassle with this plan of action - the only thing that gets 'up their nose' is that they have to continue working, whilst we are out gallavanting around the countryside!!!!

You might want to consider the services of Landbase Australia for your mail redirection.

Pejay, are they express bags? We found with express bags that if they dont arrive when expected they have a tracking number and can be traced. Very handy. The PO has a 1300 # for tracking and redirecting express mail.

We also found (unless staying with friends/rellies) its best to give your forwarding address as c/o PO in whatever town. If the mail goes to a caravan park then you have to rely on the C/P staff to redirect it.

We use Portmail Redirect . Yes it costs a little bit , but doesn't everything ?

Google them if you are interested .

Thanks all. My problem solved. Our daughter clears the mail box weekly and scans all the mail and emails to us. Works well so far.

Hi

We have the same problem to solve within the next month. We want our car/caravan to remain registered in Victoria. VicRoads and our credit card companies insist on a street address. The only company I can find in Victoria is TrailMail who have assured us that they will provide a street address as well as a PO Box address. We shall see .........
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Regards, Derek

That sounds like a great idea
