While heading home yesterday thought we would call in and look at Fraser Station Caravan Park. Great attitude there and worthy of recomendation, BUT the free camp at Moodini Bluff was a disgusting mess. No wonder the authorties are fed up. It amases me how clean living people even stay there, filth and smell, and of course the backpackers will get the blame again. Gerty raised this subject awhile back and the future looks grim for this form of budget camping and disappointingly will not be there when I need it. Control or abolition is the only answere.
I camped at Moodini Bluff for one night in February 2017
It looks like new toilets have been built, and some tables
There are also plenty of bins
There was plenty of rubbish I picked up 4 x 9 litre plastic bucketful in the late afternoon I arrived, and another 2 x 9 litre bucketful the next morning There is still some rubbish left
Just before dark I went to introduce myself to some of the nearby travellers
I found a young French girl, a little distressed as their wizz bang was leaking oil, her boyfriend was not very mechanical minded, and they were concerned that the engine may go on fire After cleaning off the leaking oil, I found that the tappet cover was loose, and tightened the bolts
I knew that the other traveller would not be concerned about the light pollution from my 60 LED cordless lamp As they did not seem to be concerned, by the rubbish pollution on the ground
As a side note the young French couple were so happy with being assisted, that they wanted to take my picture, so that they did not forget me As they were leaving very early the next morning, because they needed to be in Adelaide in two days for a job appointment, I suggest they take their picture, there and then
I hope that the other traveller were not put out by the camera flashes at about 10 pm
