A Pie @ Hebel

You have to do it. Have a pie from the Hebel General Store.
It's also a caravan park and they have cabins and a cottage for accommodation.
The food is all home made by the "hostess with the mostess" who also operates a licensed restaurant on the premises.
You can feel the history while you eat the pie.
I didn't stay at the park, but I certainly enjoyed the beef pie, and there are curry and other favourites. Home made apple pie looked fabulous and I only imagined what it would taste like with cream.
You can also buy trinkets and swim flippers at the store.
Another interesting experience I have pleasure in recommending.

Yep. Call in there quite often on my trips from Chinchilla to Mildura. The pub is about the same vintage & the owner Chris is a likeable fellow.
Good free camp over the road from the store also, but noisy with trucks going through all nite long with feral goats on board.

must agree with the remarks great pies ----wife went in to buy 2 or three i expected to have them sitting out the front from a paper bag after she was served, in fact that was as far as we got, just about to tuck in when the owner came out with plate knife and fork saying thats the way its done there, paper bags only for take away .

Being a S A resident I had the pleasure of finding the nicest Bakery in SA

Try the main street of Barmera (near the local IGA store) our family sampled various Pies, pasties and sausage rolls, they all had REAL chunky meat (not horrid mince) at reasonable prices. We were all impressed so much so that I asked fellow campers to come along, all agreed they were the best bakery around.
