RV Bases/Villages

I tend to agree with the sentiments of the editor re the proposed RV village in Maryborough Qld.

It does appear to be a grab at the upper end of the RV market. What is actually needed is a place where the whole range of facilities are centralised in one spot.Ranging from repairs, installations, accessories, consumables.
Right through to a good quality camping facility with areas for all types of vehicles and tents.
Yes have an area set aside for those that have the "Moolah' to have a base when not travelling.
I do know of two places nearby in Hervey Bay that have facilities to store your vehicle or van when not travelling.
Both are retirement villages. One aimed at those who wish to have their vehicle parked alongside the house, where you buy the house. and the other is more a traditional retirement village where there is an area set aside for the storage of your caravan /RV. Everytime I look as I pass the place there seems to be more Vans "Stored"
This one does appear to be a place where once you are there the Van/travelling lifestyle seems to go out the window though.

With the size of the market growing leaps and bounds it does appear that a"Proper RV Village" is needed.
I should imagine that an area like the Maryborough Hervey Bay catchment would attract a reasonable number of customers if the facilities were in place to service the needs of the GN tribe which is a growing and expanding entity.
I am just as sure there are areas all round the country where the infrastructure needs to be built to attract more of the GN travellers.
Areas where the drive to attract the tourist dollar needs to look at the GN market demographic.

Come on Councils, start using your grey matter and look at the GN tribe and realise just how big and diverse we are.
You have all jumped on the Backpacker market after it was pointed out that the money spent per person was much higher than previously thought.Look at the GN market too. A much more diverse range of spending and spread over a much broader range. Everything from the humble camper to half million dollar Rv's and all their attendant needs.

Wake up Councils.

PS. My appologies for getting on my high horse but logic does seem to go out the window with councils and what they need to supply.

Very interesting comments, Yuglamron. But I couldnt find the Editorial you mentioned?

We are currently looking at downsizing, to have a house that requires less maintenance and would be more secure in our absences. A retirement village such as you mentioned might fit the bill for us, but everybody has different likes/dislikes/needs/wants. Theres no "one size fits all" answer.

There seem to be quite a number of these around, with slightly differing names, but they all do the same thing, and you still have to pay rent on the land.

Think I'll just find myself a nice cosy Cave somewhere.

An it harm none, do what you will.
