RE: Grey Power vs Truckers

Denise, the Pre Lunacy convention was a total farce,Consultant Ducky turned out to be an ex inmate of a home for Bewildered Ducks and Penguins. The guy lecturing was a chap who had grandoise ideas about opening a Forum for Former Forumites from another Forum.Denise you ask how the Duck is?He probably wont thank me for telling you this but he has been threatened with doom and death during the forthcoming Duck hunting season.A rogue called Biggles assisted by a well known terrorist truck driver one Mick the Mongrel, both converts of the demi God ,supreme adminstrator,Father confessor and part time lolly shop owner Colonel Baz.Ducky has struck a deal with a bloke from Canberra to buy a whole heap of Aluminium foil with insulation material attached, this material is to be sent to various off shore Alfoil Clothing makers to be turned into three piece Alsuits to be supplied at a small fee to people who belong to Camping and travel forums.Mr Chrome Dome Garett is the guy he bought the foil from and Ducky told me that Chrome Dome and his business partener Kruddy O"kevin would both be joining our forum. They have heard about our diplomacy, fairness, looking after all working Australians.Oh yes where is the Duck?well may you ask,but as a clue he is somewhere North of Newcastle NSW,probably in an amourous and intimate situation with the,Beautiful,Desirable, long legged Firefly.Cheers.Ibbo.

I hope I am not stirring, but I have just come back from my annual trip down south, and the worst danger was being past by b double trucks. I was just north of Bowen on my way home when a b double past me on the wrong side of the road across double white lines on a blind corner! When I called him on the radio, He said I should get off the his f...ing road and do i want a punch in the face. I took his number , and gave it to the police. I usually pull off the road and let truck pass , but this guy was a nut.I was doing the speed limit at the time. Not all drivers are bad and some thank me for getting out of thear way. but there are some crazy bugger out there. There,s alway a bad apple in the crowd. Bill

yep the bad ones stay with us forever! had a mate of mine fixing a flat on the side of the road when a "B" double went past, the wind from the truck blew the van off the jack and nearly got him, wouldn't have been so bad but he happened to have his UHF on and heard the driver laughing about it to his mates

the nongs make it hard for the good drivers, thankfully the good ones outweigh the nongs
all we can do is shake our head and continue on!

Bill, that's very scary. Count your lucky stars I reckon.
My observation of Qld roads has me thinking seriously about which way I will "escape" this state to avoid the perils of driving in Qld. The route with the least traffic is the first priority.
Firstly I believe it's "compulsory" to overtake when there are solid or double solid white lines, especially on blind bends.
Then there's no where to go. Two relatively narrow lanes of bitumen with very narrow fog lines to the edge, and nothing after that. Sometimes there's a short overtaking lane.
There are no shoulders or verges which could be used as an escape route to get away from some of those lunatic drivers. The road edge can drop away as deep as 10metres or more with no guard railing to stop the vehicle from rolling numerous times to the bottom, either side over side, or end over end. It's terrifying.
In other places there are metre deep culverts on either side of the road with no margin for error or evasive action. On the other side of the culvert can be a rock wall. Which is the preferred option when taking evasive action?
It's not just truckies. In fact I reckon most of them have better road manners than car drivers because they understand the risks and hazards.
