Just back from a trip to Cairns, and discovered a really great free camp.  Bushy Parker Park, at Rollingstone, between Townsville and Ingham.  Plenty of shade, a great swimming hole, outside cold shower.  You can camp here for 48 hours.
It's in Camps.

yes great place, stayed there last year. A place to remember, quit, beach front. GREAT

There is another a few Kilometers from there at Balgal Beach, 48 hour stay but not enforced. A good idea to there early as it is very popular
