Hail blankets parts of Sydney as NSW hit with thunderstorms...

Hailstones have pelted down in Sydney and beyond, blanketing some roads, as severe thunderstorms swept through parts of New South Wales.

The Princes Highway at Waterfall looked as though a snowstorm has swept through, with the road covered in hail and ice.

Here in Jimboomba, its been raining on and off all day. Checked the rain gauge and a very welcoming 16ml so far, hoping for more overnight... currently a nice 19 deg... 

Sheffield, Tas.   Had our first snow for the year (and probably only lot we'll get) on 16th Sept.  Temp's. varying 13 - 16 degrees.   5 different kinds of weather in each day, and lots of wind  - par for the course at this time of year.

Wet weather spreading across WA...

Rain and storms will affect the southern half of WA during the next three days as a low pressure system sweeps across the state.

The low will move towards the south near the state's west coast on Wednesday, causing showers and storms develop over the inland Gascoyne and the state's South West Land Division. The low will also cause blustery winds near the coast as it moves south.

The wet and windy weather will arrive in Perth from the afternoon and continue into the evening, before spreading into the state's far southwest on Thursday morning. As of 11am WST on Wednesday, a severe weather warning was in place for damaging winds gusts in and around Perth during Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

This system is likely to bring rain to all of the state's western and southern districts and parts of the east Pilbara, Goldfields, South Interior and Eucla districts between now and Friday.

Parts of the south coast, wheat belt and Goldfields could receive 5-15mm of rain with the passage of this system, with isolated totals above 20mm likely. This could be the heaviest rain in about 7-8 months for parts of the Goldfields.

If you live in parts of the South Interior district you should take action and stay safe with severe thunderstorms to come. 

Locations which may be affected include Giles. 

WEATHER DETAILS: 

At 11/10/2018 16:57:00 the Bureau of Meteorology advised thunderstorms, likely severe, have been observed on satellite pictures and radar near the WA/SA/NT border area at 4.45pm. WST, Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.

Take extra care on the roads and do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.

Road information may also be available by calling Main Roads WA on 138 138 or visiting www.mainroads.wa.gov.au or by calling your local Shire.

The mercury hit a top of 35.9 degrees in Perth on Friday afternoon, which is nine above average and its hottest day since March.

 Bunbury has always been a bit cooler than Perth, KJ

Perhaps because Perth is surrounded by hills

It was warm here yesterday (Friday), but we did not start the aircon

I do know from experience that in the old money, 100ºF in Perth, always seemed hotter than Bunbury at 100ºF

Perth today will be 27ºC while Bunbury will be 25ºC according to BOM, and we are only about 200 kilometres apart

Do you live anywhere near 4 Harvest Terrace, West Perth, by any chance, KJ

I have read a report, (unconfirmed of course), that there is always a lot of hot air, in that area

Thank God we live South of the river, where the Air is nice and clean, although not that way at present,

Smoke from the fires down South has given us a heavy smog and with high humidity, a very unpleasant day.

After a lousy wet day,we are rewarded with a lovely Sunset

As I have told Doug today it is rather cold, wet and windy on Kangaroo Island at the moment as the unseasonal weather keeps bringing up the cooler air from Antarctica so I passed on a joke I heard to wile away the hours until the sunshine returns....So here it is......

'One day three men of GOD decide to go out fishing in a boat.  The first was a Methodist Pastor, the second a Church of England Minister and the third was a Catholic Priest.   Before long the first decided to stretch his legs, so he stepped out of the boat and walked a few steps, then sat back inside the boat again.   The second thought to himself, 'If a Methodist Pastor can walk on water , then so can I.'  He too stepped out of the boat, walked up and down the length of it then returned back to his seat inside the boat.  

       The Catholic Priest, not wanting to be outdone by them stepped out of the boat thinking he too could walk on water.   However to the Catholic Priest's surprise he sank straight down to the bottom of the bay.    Seeing this the Methodist Pastor turned to the Church of England Minister and said,  "do you think we should have told him that the sandbar is on our side of the boat???"  Ha!  Ha! Ha!

Hello everyone,

We have gone from cold & wet to 'bloody hot & windy' here on Kangaroo Island.  The CFS are extremely busy as we speak helping farmers fight bushfires directly in the path of their properties threatening farmhouses, land & livestock alike. 

Friends of mine have just sent through some photos of the bushfires blazing in their back paddocks so we are all banning together.  There are 'all hands on deck' saving their sheep as the winds pick up and feed the fire front which will hopefully be stopped in time to rescue all~~.      Gwynnie 

This warning has just appeared on the news....

The Country Fire Service (CFS) has downgraded an emergency warning for an out-of-control bushfire on South Australia's Kangaroo Island.

The Kangaroo Island fire is burning at Gosse, near Mount Taylor Road, about 23 kilometres south-west of Parndana.

The fire is moving in a southerly direction towards South Coast Road near Harriet and Stockdale roads in Vivonne Bay.

It has burned through about 600 hectares of land, including a blue gum plantation, and is generating lots of smoke.

Seven fire trucks are fighting the fire and more crews are on the way from Adelaide.

The C.F.S said there was one large fire and two smaller fires.

"About 40 firefighters are currently working on the fire ground, along with four fire bomber aircraft,
