Hi all, wanting to road trip Shellharbour to Lightning Ridge and return via Tamworth, time frame about 4 weeks
Currently planning to stop at Cowra, Dubbo, Nyngan, Bourke, Lightning Ridge, Narrabri, Moree, Inverell, Glen Innes, Tamworth.
Any recommendations regarding what roads and towns to avoid. Places to make sure we call into. And good places to stay would be greatly appreciated.
We are pretty much novices to this sort thing, even our caravan reversing skills (and yes we have done a course).
Kind regards, John Curtin

Welcome to the Forum John;
Your itinerary seems great and allows time to do some sightseeing.
There is a small village called Pallymallawa east of Moree - it is the location of the "Pally Pub", an absolute must dining experience. there is a small caravan park nest to pub or a free camp for fully self-contained vehicles at the fishing camp less than 1 klm away on the river. flushing toilets, potable water, BBQ.

The caravan park at Cowra on the Lachlan River opposite the Tommy Raudonikis playing fields is a goodun.
Dubbo is chronic for car theft and youth crime, DO NOT leave your vehicle unlocked there and lock everything at night.
I am taking the old Suzuki to the RL grand final in Dubbo on Sunday.
Don't take the new Isuzu ute there, last time I came out of the footy there all the canopy locks had been tampered with.
Bourke has it's issues too.
Nyngan is a great little town and if you enjoy art and a good chuckle, check out John Murray art gallery at the Ridge.
Lighting Ridge is a great spot.
Hey John, you weren't the 14th Prime Minister of Australia were you???
(Reckon you would be tired of that one.......)
