Covers for front windows serve two purposes; when open, shade from the sun/rain over the window and when closed, protection from stones. We have some stone dents in our front window cover so that is a consideration when removing the cover. Window breakage is a possibility. A padded canvas "bra" may be an alternative for the front of the van or simply take the risk if your travels are short. I'm not familiar with the Windsor cover method of mounting, but most covers seem to be a round cross-section extrusion slid into a sail track extrusion. You may be able to fit a more robust method of attachment for the cover. Another option is to contact the supplier/manufacturer of the van for warranty support or other options.
Thanks Pete, we did see a van on our travels that used a solar panel on the front , looked neat

Thanks Stew, there is a u tube style track that goes into the sail track. Ours has come out of the u tube , so now were back home, will have a good look at it.
Weve had some issues with our cover over the front window, and it came off during our current trip to NT.
Seeking advice, were thinking of leaving it off, take the brackets off (carefully) put grey plastic plugs into the holes and leave it as is.
Any issue with the sun or rain if we do it, of course the inside roller with silver backing will be shut.
Cheers,
Peter
