Hi all, new to the group however am very grateful for any help and advice. My 4 yo caravan has begun developing what looks like 'rust' to the cladding and appears as sporadic bubbling along the area joining the cladding to checker plate. Has only just started.
The condition of my van is very good and the sealant appears to have no visible degradation. What is happening here? How do I rectify this?
Take it back to the dealer you purchased it from.
Cheers,
Peter

The only issue with this is the fact that A) I'm interstate to where it was purchased and B) it's 4 years old and the manufacturer will not honour the warranty.

Talk to the ACCC. You would not expect a defect like this after 4 years. That is the question that determines how long a warranty must be.

It's Aluminium corroding where it meets a different metal, grind back affected area and treat with something like ACF50.

Peter67 could be spot on. Very common on aluminium boats where stainless steel screws are used and causes the paint to bubble. I have it in many places on my boat. If you have been parked near a salt water environment it will accelerate it.

I used to manufacture security doors & screens. One of the requirements of the AS was to use monel (nickle alloy copper) rivets to both provide both more strength than stainless units and to provide a stronger resistance to corrosion.
If you're interested it might be worth checking them out.

Thanks for the sound advice all. I will attempt to remedy via a reputable company as the seller has cleaned his hands of the van and me.

Warrantee is the legal responsibility of the seller, NOT the manufacturer.
