It's been announced that Toyota is dropping the V8 in its 70 series, the article said it's stopped taking orders for the V8.
I wonder if it will the 300s V6 or just offer the 4 cylinder engine.

Just the 2.8L 4 cylinder engine I reckon.

They have just announced they are dropping the 70 series altogether.
Not a sunrise with some of the new ADR's coming into force.
Many of the older designs will disappear due in part to more stringent side impact requirements.

Wasn't it only a few years ago that you didn't get much change from $3k for the option of air conditioning.
Had AC in my 1970s car.

Possibly in part that sales of the 70 series are falling due to business (mines, stations etc.) needing auto vehicles as so many of their staff cannot drive manuals.
Prior, there was no way that Toyota would have introduced auto V8 powered 70 series as, I would think, there would have been a serious impact on 100/200 series sales.

I haven't seen anything suggesting that the 70 series range is being axed - just the V8.
Some articles are saying the 70 series will be offered with the 2.8 engine with a modified version of the 5 speed manual being planned (I'm not sure, but would guess they'd keep the auto option too).
In my view, it's a pity they've never put a 6 speed manual behind the V8 to lower the rpm at highway speeds while still keeping similar gearing lower down.
