Should you choose a seat next to the exit door to ensure that you're the first to leave the plane in the event of an accident, or should you choose a seat away from the exit door to ensure that you're not the first to leave the plane in the event of an accident?

Personally I disagree with the dilemma.
The 737 was designed in a totally different era. It was an aircraft where people walked up stairs from the tarmac.

Shorter length, smaller engines for a start.
Don't fly on a 737.
