I wonder what legislation will be passed regarding this. Maybe noodles will be banned. Make the kids wear a heatproof apron perhaps.
Or maybe they could refrain from giving small children and childlike adults hot liquids to carry around or sit with on their laps.
What didn't we teach our children regarding how to look after their children for goodness sake.
Somethings sadly remiss here. Back in the day, drinking water out of the hose now seems trivial.
BTW this is a criticism of what journalism is these days rather than a criticism of parental practices.

Journalists are conveying a warning issued by "health authorities". That's what journalism does. I don't see anything wrong with that. In fact, just look at the numbers -- 10 incidents per month at 1 hospital. That's 120 per year multiplied by the number of affected hospitals. That could easily amount to 1000 incidents per year.
"Health authorities have issued a warning to parents following a spike in the number of children suffering scalding burns from instant noodles.
About 10 children have been treated for burns from the popular snack over the past month, according to experts at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) in Sydney."

Firstly it is not the noodles as the boiling water is only a suggested serving option.
Sitting at a table it is unlikely to get a scolded lap. Surly parents wouldn't let their children sit on the lounge watching TV and eating!!

Yes they would because that's what they do or it's a way to keep the kids occupied.
I think the days or sitting at a dinner table as a family are well and truly gone. So
is parenting.

Could I suggest that the entertainment device is being held in one hand and fork in the other leaving the hot container unsupported?

How about letting it cool before giving it to kids. Then the "parents" have only got themselves to blame for a dirty great mess that needs to be cleaned up. Tables were invented for a reason.
Or are these kids unsupervised and making it themselves. The warning should say SUPERVISE YOUR KIDS!

You certainly hit the nail on the head with that observation! Cheers
