Three months ago, a friend and former colleague, a 58 y.o. female, suddenly and unexpectedly suffered a stroke. The last I heard, 2 weeks ago, she still wasn't able to walk or talk but her therapist is confident that she'll eventually regain some degree of independence.
On Friday May 26, I was sitting on my motorcycle in a line of traffic waiting for a red light to change when, out of the blue, I was hit from behind. I got flung up into the air and landed heavily on the bitumen on my left side, shattering my left pelvis.
It could have been a lot worse but, as it is, I'll be pretty much immobile for 6 weeks or longer.
Many people use the expressions, 'life is too short' and 'carpe diem' (seize the day) but how many actually believe it?

Best wishes for a good recovery.

Bugger. You were very lucky Mein ,i hope you have a speedy recovery .
Obviously the person who hit you wasn't paying attention.
I can see a personal injury case up ahead.
All the best.

Wow, I hope you have a speedy recovery. Pelvis injuries are never good and worse as you get older.
Out of curiosity from a fellow biker, what do you ride.
I have always approached my riding from the the very beginning, on a motorcycle there is no such
thing as being in the right. In your case for example, in a car it possibly would've been restricted
to damage to the vehicle. Maybe whiplash if sever enough. On a M/C it's a hospital job.

Although you have sustained a pretty severe and painful injury I reckon you were lucky to get out of that incident without suffering more serious damage.
I hope you have a speedy and uneventful recovery.
On a more mercenary basis, don't forget there are time limits on personal injury claims, especially motor vehicle accident injuries, so have a chat to your legal people asap. It will be pretty straight forward.

Hi Mein.
Sorry to hear about your accident and also your friend.
Rear enders to motorcycles can be particularly bad, and are never good.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I for one agree with Carpe Diem, you never know what is around the corner.
