Certainly they are, Phil, being generally recognised as the most intelligent of all dog breeds. Somewhere I read that a Border Collie can learn and understand a new command in under 5 repetitions, and obey that command 95% of the time. Many of today's youngsters wouldn't be that smart. Cheers

My labrador-cattle cross learned the words "cat" and "rabbit" after I identified the respective animals only once.

My Chihuahua immediately knew what the word Kanga meant. Translated it as something to chase.
