I built my own tandem trailer with a "sliding axle group" so that I can position it to suit the intended load........ KB

Like car carrying trailers compared to boat trailers. The axles are generally further back on a boat trailer . Where the weight is . Depending non days fishing too ??

The article appears to be an example of reasonably good simple engineering, albeit the terminology is not only simplistic but wrong.
For someone to be building a box trailer it would suffice. If one was building a boat trailer or caravan, I would expect that they would seek expert advice prior to building and putting it on the road to ensure that they were building a safe vehicle.

Its about axle location . Not actual fabrication, engineering or size of steel etc Does give an idea of balance, load location
