Anybody travelled North from West wyalong to Gundawindi in 2023.....last year was terrible ..massive deep pot holes..hoping it is better now or time to find another way...just not a fan of going through Sydney ...any info appreciated

I don't have any first hand knowledge just what I have read, potholes seem to be increasing in size and it will take months to just do patchwork. RTA are saying they have put 200 extra workers with machinery in the affected areas.

Heaps of delays while they are repairing whole sections of roads in January - but it will be worth it in the long run.

I travelled along a section of the Newell Highway, from West Wyalong, to Coonabarabran, in January this year
I found it OK, but drove to the road conditions, most of the main potholes were marked, and there was some roadworks
The edges of the bitumen were very wavey, at places, and there were plenty of speed restrictions
The main problem, was that some of the pot holes were hidden within the shadows of the trees, and hard to spot, from a distance
