A big B52 sized one attacked me today in HB while I was filling the fountain.

If we are outside in the yard or paddock this time of year We have found wearing orange deters most of them. Been doing it for a couple of years now and it seems quite effective.

They are also attracted to some people more than others. I was in the Whitsundays walking through the bush and there were so many attacking I had to go back. They attacked me constantly but they just buzzed around my partner without landing on her or giving her a single bite. Body lotion or in the blood??

They are attracted to dark blue and probably exhaled carbon dioxide & body sweat the same as for mosquitos. It's only the female mossie that bites or syphons the blood off so maybe the same with the march fly.
Nomads visiting S/W WA be warned, for next couple of weeks the gum trees are blossoming, so watch out bush walking etc.
That means the nasty... biting March flies are about, and they are sneaky buggers.
Take a switch with you....
Cheers Bob
