Now it's also coming out that the lockdowns were political and not on health advice. Time for a royal commission to look into the states response to COVID-19.

Just as I thought, a "panel" of Fox's talking heads jumping on an innocuous statement by a Pfizer exec. There is no need for a royal waste of taxpayers' money.
Social media users are circulating video clips of testimony by a Pfizer executive, who is said to "admit" that the company and its partner BioNTech did not test whether their mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine reduced virus transmission prior to rolling it out -- which is something the companies were not required to do for initial regulatory approval, nor did they claim to have done.
To get emergency approval, companies needed to show that the vaccines were safe and prevented vaccinated people from getting ill. They did not have to show that the vaccine would also prevent people from spreading the virus to others. Once the vaccines were on the market, independent researchers in multiple countries studied people who received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and did show that vaccination reduced transmission of variants circulating at the time.

We knew this at the time. I'm sure if you wish to wade through the discussions on this forum regarding the Pfizer and AZ vaccines it was understood they did not stop transmission and it was unknown by how much, if any, they reduced it. Their main claim was that they reduced the impact of covid upon individuals - remember how many covid patients had to be put on ventilators? The vaccines reduced that number hugely.

The media s the problem.
They need regulating which is not a good thing if they told the truth but something needs to be done.
As has been pointed out in the above posts each outlet has its own agenda so factual reports go by the wayside.

i wonder how many of us could have passed on , if we had not done it the way it was done (maybe a bit overdone ) in some countries people were dying in such numbers they were burying them in mass graves or storing the bodies in refrigerated trucks

as i see it the people in charge did what they did , based on information available at the time dealing with a situation that they had never had to deal with before . it would not matter what they did, someone will find fault with the result . we did a lot better than a lot of countries. could we have done better in hindsight of course we could have

Dorian, the fact is the Dutch member of the EU parliament asked the question of the Pfizer representative, was no they hadnt tested it for preventing transmission, and the reason given was because of the Speed of Science, which actually means the the speed of money.
The media hype about the vaccine was it was going to stop transmission of the virus and protect your loved ones, I'll admit I fell for the BS and reluctantly got my 4 shots, we learnt that getting the jab well i may prevent you from getting covid, but in reality it didnt nor did it prevent transmission.
Chemical companies made massive profits from covid, do you think Australia should ask for a refund based on faulse advertising.
At the early onset of covid I was one who challenged over reaction of the closures and restriction imposed, and yet I got dumped on big time, theres no doubt about it I was right.

i did not think you were right at the time ,( an still don't) because we had no idea how it was going to end , i have had my shots and when i caught covid the result was no worse than a cold , had i caught it before i had my shots the end result may have been very different in my mind the plan was to contain the spread till we had a majority of the population vaccinated then open up which is pretty much what happened ,maybe not a quick as some people would have liked but there are probably more of us still alive as a result

Didn't the vaccines result in the death rate per reported infection improving from about 1 in 10 to 1 in 100? And then Omicron came along with it's milder affects, improving things further.

I keep wondering if the vaccine actually did anything. OK We know it did nothing against contagion but what about helping to prevent the impact of covid.
How efficient are the vaccines really at lessening the effects of covid. Probably never know. How would you calculate that. Not as many hospitalisations? or people on ventilators? Lots of variants to factor in there.
Not to worry, some very kind person just returned from overseas with a new variant to blame increased deaths on and we have already had one death, Keep your distance out there people. Large numbers are still dying. It's not over and there is nothing in it's way.

lets be clear on this, vaccines were never designed to STOP you from getting Covid. They were designed to minimise the effect of Covid
if you were unlucky enough to contract it.

what BS did i fall for . i followed the rules, stayed put, wore a mask, kept my distance, got my vaccines ect ect ect at the present moment i'm still alive and have resumed my life . COVID has put a damper on 2 years of my twilight years that i will never get back but at least i am still here to carry on
