Got this off an American site but didn't get the photo but gives a idea of what they are saying over there.
Truck on left New Ford Lightning electric truck, full charge pulling a 6,000 lb trailer got only 86 miles even though the Fords computer said in the beginning 167 miles before recharging and was at 9% at the end of 80 miles. Plus panicking and he was freaking out to find a charging station . Truck on right new GMC ultimate gasoline. Both had exact same tire pressure both had A/C set at 70 the GMC had a range of 280 miles on 24 gallons of fuel, and had hands free driving even pulling trailer, and heads up display. Pulling exact same trailers. The GMC still had a little over 3/4 of a tank at the 86 miles. So tell me why in the hell would I want an electric vehicle ! It takes about 7 min to refill the GMC and hours to charge the Ford. Screw that horse sh!t !

The world apparently is full of gullible people. Electricity companies already are struggling to satisfy demand, so where is the required power to come from? Can you even begin to imagine the length of queues at recharge stations in holiday periods, when people often travel long distances? Where will all these recharge stations be, and who will be happy to wait for literally hours in line, waiting to recharge, while others ahead of them recharge? Too much thinking involved for many people, it seems. Unfortunately, these gullible people also are voters, so any aspiring politician has to tow the line on renewables, or face not being elected. And the economics of EVs don't "add up" either.Cheers

Australia is currently experiencing electricity supply problems due to the transition from fossil fuels to renewable fuels.
I wouldn't be in a hurry to purchase an EV any time soon.
At least if you have a flat battery with a petrol/diesel vehicle you can get a jump start to get back on the road.
With an EV, if you get a flat battery you're knackered.

According to a contributor in Todays Advertiser, on Thursday Adelaide were generating nearly 90% of our electricity from Gas. But its not enough to satisfy our demand.
Goes on to say that a quarter of our power comes from Brown coal from Vic, and without that brown coal this Thursday morning our lights would be off.
(My comment, maybe not quite right I thought we had aircraft engines that drive big generators and then we have a couple of big batteries that will last an hour, if they are fully charged. But these options may be a lot more costly than electricity from Vic.)
I understand there is a website that SA Oz'ies can check to see the supply figures.
Hope Vic keeps up shovelling the Brown coal, while SA is looking for more electricity sources, overwise I will be running our house on our caravan generator, as we do not have batteries on our Solar System.

I think we will all be in really big trouble with the closure of the coal power station in VIC within the next year.
When I first saw the car I thought that the numberplate read "Brainless". Anyway, what sort of dipstick gets his kicks from running a petrol powered generator in the back of his EV to keep the batteries charged. More money than brains. Cheers

I remember back in the 1980s being at a conference and one of the speakers was talking about the coming of computers and how they would revolutionise the profession. After the conference and over a few beers I remember all the wise heads and their disparaging remarks about the speaker and his vision. "We won't see this in our lifetime" said the biggest know it all of the group I was in. "How could you maintain a trust account or do research" said another cerebral giant.
Remind me again how that worked out.

They have instigated a generation of people that can't spell, do math, read a map and engage in social intercourse. They promulgate false "Facts" and are used as a tool to assist teasing and on-line bullying. Social pages used to carry out phishing of personal data.
They assist fraud and crime with some anonymity. They can also cause unemployment.
Don't get me wrong there are many benefits with computers - but trust and blind reliance on them is the cause of much grief.

My point is not about the benefits of computers. I think the issues raised relating to electric vehicles will be solved in ways that we cannot even imagine.

My personal view is at some stage in the future electric will overtake fossil fuel powered vehicles, but they way the agenda is being flogged ia an outright bald faced lie.
Today at 10am the non renewable v renewable is running at 60/40%, last night at 9pm it was about 85/15%, but remember this only the demand and generation that the AEMO can see, because they cannot see all those local communities who are not part of the National grid or the WA power network.
I would hazard a guess that the total number of EV's registered in Australia would less than 0.05% considering EV's made up 1.95% of new can sales in 2021.
A great comparison to EV's is mobile phone coverage, we started with analogue and then CDMA, and now digital and still yet you cannot stand anywhere in Australia and have molile receiption unless you have a Sat phone. Now look at the extent service availability 3G all most dead, 4G is great in most regional areas but in rural areas unless you have a phone with band 28 it becomes less effective, 5G is fantastic if your close to the the tower but it slows very quickly the futher you move away.
And that will be story of EV's in rural and remote Australia at the moment, yes I'm sure it will improve but it will be the case of get way from the large regional centres charging options will become limited. Like the Clown who decided to make the point of driving from Sydney to Darwin, in his Tesla, comming up Highway 1 there were plenty of Tesla Superchargers uopn leaving Brisbane, high speed chargers became few and far between. A recharge at Gympie took 50 minutes but needed at top up at Gin Gin to make Rocky, needed 4 hours to recharge at Emerald on 3 phase power. The big joke was the 260 Km section between Camoweal amd Barkly Homestead, he had to drive a portion of that at 30 Kph to reach the homestead.
We have yet to see an electric prime mover that can tow 3 trailers at 109 tonne gross a 1000km range and its going to be a long weight for hydrogeon to establish filling stations its ok if your in the ACT or Melbourne.

I think Governments realise present shortcomings. The issue is that the MSM beat up these issues to serve their political masters and in the process get the general public in an absolute lather to further their cause.
Governments are not stupid, they are not going to immediately cross to an alternative source of power without safeguards in place, no matter what Spud, Barnaby and the "Globilisation Mastermind" may tell you.

I think back to before I retired when we lived in the Riverland of SA, our average quarterly bill was $700 add to that 7 years of annual price increases how would you contend with an 81%.

That means Germany is OK with Russian pollution, "but not in my backyard".
Alternative/renewable power sourcing doesn't mean we won't pollute BUT will allow others to do so.

There are many of us waiting to hear the problem when the coal fired power station closes down in Victoria as is scheduled in the next year or so.
Probably not so much hearing the excuses as we will all be feeling the result.

Well I suppose if he existed today he could easily assess the errors that are evident in England Denmark and Norway due to the farce of shut down everything to save a planet.
