Well this certainly provided the balance that is needed on any public forum.

It's unfortunate that social justice activists have chosen to describe their struggle using a word which is in fact a grammatical error. That's why it has become so easy to ridicule them. The word is intended as a pejorative when used by their opponents, but since the targets use the same word as a source of pride, they can hardly complain about it. So funny ...

I would describe a social justice activist as someone who tell others how they wish to be treated. In most cases they simply want to be treated equally and given the same opportunities. The Suffragettes and the US Civil Rights Movement are just two major historical examples.
To me the problem with the "woke" crowd is that they chose a defining term which makes them appear stupid and ignorant. If you want to publicise your cause, you should be electing an intelligent, eloquent spokesperson. The most stirring speeches that I recall are Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, Barack Obama's "Yes We Can" speech, and Noel Pearson's eulogy at Whitlam's funeral. The woke movement seems to have been founded around a protest march where idiots waved placards proclaiming "I'm woke".

It is quite obvious that there are groups who support any radical action thought or belief and stand in full defence if, in their opinion, there exists a situation where they offer support for these radicals to enable them to create division between others.
It is blatantly obvious in many situations.
A joke forum on an internet in Australia can regularly have jokes and memes openly making fun of The Irish, The Italians, The Greeks, The English, The Australians and so on but dare have an Aussie say anything about an Aboriginal (we are all bloody Australians by the way) or even a person who claims Aboriginal heritage can not be included in any generalisation for fear of penalty instigated by the Woke. And this happens. It has happened.
Dare have a joke about a Muslim. Yes it can and does happen but when it does out come the Woke in full defence.
Where is this defence when the joke / comment is made about the group of generally white heterosexual people of Christian belief as I have listed above.
Thats right there is no comment because it wont be seen as offensive because it all of a sudden doesnt fit their cause.
The divisive action is necessary because it causes division and that is what they, the Woke, want to achieve.
Ask most of the Woke population would they really like a Mosque built next to their suburban cottage and they will be very vocal in as much as their view will be that it should be built elsewhere as next door will have a litany of problems. (For those that like google, look up the meaning of Litany)
Then we have the other group of the Woke.
These are the people that protest against anything. They are the ones that prevent good people carrying out their business by disruption to traffic, to railways, and any other structure that will generate media support. We see this group on TV news every day.
What is hard to understand is that what we might hope to be responsible *normal* people are now standing beside those that protest if only for the sake of it.
We are Australians.
The majority of us respect and have friends who are maybe newer than some of us to this country or maybe older than us, heritage wise, to this country but in the end we are all Australians.
There is little future for our great country if we have a group who are anti everything and now worse than that, a growing group that stand in support of those with an extremely confused mind and agenda.
We stand no chance while groups continually try to divide us as a nation of separate races and identities and this not only applies to radical groups but to our politicians.
The majority in this country are not the Ku Klux Klan, we are just a group of people thrown together from initially different backgrounds and as such the silent majority just want to see our nation go ahead rather than be dragged to a level of division and infighting.
Most in every community are respectful of others with race, religion sexuality and heritage so why is it that the two teams of Woke continually need to ram nonsense down the throats of the majority of Australians who are happy to live and let live and support all folk with reasonable requests made through legal and non disruptive avenues.

Well Ivan,
You have got that absolutely spot on.
You have made some good points but the best one is that you pointed out the two groups of the Woke as they are known.
Those that choose not to tie themselves to any object to create disruption but still continue to bleat about how bad Christian white Australians are treating all others would most certainly not welcome a Mosque or any establishment which may disrupt and devalue their assets.
It is unfortunate that some do place themselves in the sights of criticism for their very actions which are legally and socially unacceptable.
The very action of analysing every comment and turning that comment into an offence is completely one sided in this country brought about by the same woke group that would not tolerate the Mosque.
The OP and the content of his first post is criminal that a man can not be accepted to do a job because of his religion.
I ask, who the hell are the bigots that are supporting this. Is this not the reverse of the general policy of support of these two Woke groups.
Ivan, you last sentence more than sums up the truthful situation that currently exists in Australia.
