Just picked up our van in Cairns and been travelling and visiting friends on our way back to Nhulunbuy. Love this forum as so much to learn. Look forward to chatting. Would like some advice about long term storage of our van in the tropics. We plan to leave in Darwin for about 12 months. Worried about mould and rot. Any suggestions from those experienced in storing in the that climate would be awesome. Thanks Everyone

Welcome to the gang Scott and Stacey, enjoy here and out in the plyground.
Nice area up in far Nth and Nth QLD, I could live there but wouldn't last long in the summer.
Make sure you check out all the different sections of the forum but don't get tied down by long winded posts from the Xspurt/s. If you were confused before you will be even more confused.
The most important thing is to,
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Welcome to GN's Seley,
I have left my van near Darwin a few years ago (different van to now), it is imperative that moisture is kept out of the van, and it is best if it can be kept under cover - We kept ours at Humpty Doo, under a family member's carport and returned to a pristine van. Our Cousin ensured there was no insects (ants and spiders) by spraying inside and around van at regular intervals.
If possible, it would be advisable to have van serviced, lubricate all hinges as well as awning "moveable" points, fill water tanks, ensure toilet slide lubricated and 12mm water in bowl, spray on top of toilet water, with Olive Oil spray (to stop mosquito larvae), change anode in water heater, place cap or tape over opening in spare gas cylinder to prevent wasps nesting, lift van onto jacks/blocks.
If you have a friend/relative than could regularly attend the van (even if in a storage facility), just keeping aware of changing circumstances and regularly "airing" it would help.
