New member so saying hello. We are travelling down into Central NSW down Newell Highway to Cowra and back up New England Highway from Sunshine Coast at the start of August and would appreciate any tips on living With the cold. We have a fan heater for the Jurgens, warm clothes and blankets, have even made new cosy bed for dog. Its just the day to day stuff out and about in the annexe etc. Our annexe is an open one with privacy screen but no walls as we have always travelled in Qld (nice and warm). Cheers

Welcome to the forum 5188. Melanie
Not so pleasant this winter in Qld.
Even the Whitsundays and further north have had overnite temps in the low single figures. It has been a lot colder further inland over this time as well.
The forecast after Saturday (tomorrow) shows it is warming up a bit and I for one am looking forward to some warmer nights.
Stay warm and travel safely.

Welcome 5188, Yep it is certainly a little chilly of late, Air conditioners and fan heaters are great for warming up the van if you are on a powered caravan site. A diesel heater is a must for long term freedom camping - my preference is a outdoor fire, not a blazing bon-fire, just a pile of tree-bones (sticks) glowing in my Webber "Traveller" fire-pit, pop a kettle on top to fill a hot water bottle - Bob's your Uncle, Mary's your Aunt and Spot's the dog.

Enjoy your trip.
This year we stayed overnight at big van park in Moree, so we could partake in using the heated spa pools. Nice and warm in the pools. The van park where we stayed was dog friendly too. Of course, not in the pools though.
It was a good stopover on the Newell Hwy. I think there are more than one one stopover places with heated spas along the Newell Hwy.

Welcome to the gang 5188, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Cowra. Great place. Make sure you visit the War Prison Camp. What a great place reading the sad history. You might even get a tap on the shoulder while walking down the path, like I did. Turned around and no one there. Scaaaaary! The other place to visit is the visitor info centre, the Diorama is great to sit quietly and watch. The Japanese Cemetery is also worth the visit. Street art under the bridge also good to see.
