I saw that report on the news tonight and I dont know wether it was just media hype but the female reporter stated that owners could receive $10500.00
in compensation.
That would buy a bit of diesel.

Much ado about nothing, no doubt encouraged by lawyers who stand to benefit hugely from any payout. If you bothered to read about the claimant and what he experienced and the issues he had with his vehicle you might understand why the Federal Court made the ruling in his favour. This decision leaves the way open for others who have also suffered loss to claim. The news reports were responsible for the sensationalism, The lawyers involved merely notified the general public that if they also experienced the same loss they may have an action.
Unfortunately, like most other things, you know more than everyone else who may be qualified to make these assessments as you drive a truck.

Have a look at the claim. It was one person who alleged he had been badly treated by the seller and that the product was defective. This was run in the Federal Court and court ruled that as a result of the defect in his car it had lost 17.5% of its resale value and therefore ordered damages in that amount. It was the media who ramped this up and alluded to every owner was entitled to these damages and then multiplied the damages by the number of cars sold and came up with 2.7 billion. I don't know how this equates to lawyers cashing in or making easy money. Obviously, this bloke's lawyer did a pretty good job taking on a huge company and getting this result for his client.
I don't denigrate truck drivers or any other occupation Yobarr. What I do find disturbing and annoying however is the fact that you hold yourself out as an authority on every subject and denigrate every view not held by yourself. You never miss an opportunity to tell the world you drive a big truck and therefore you know everything. You are a first class bore.

Simon Burnett from Balance Legal Capital -- the funder of the class action -- said the case was an excellent example of how litigation funders played a critical role in "facilitating justice for ordinary people".
It sure looks like a class action. I'm confused. Are you suggesting that every other Toyota owner will need to mount their own individual case for compensation?

My research was done in 2018 when I purchased a diesel vehicle.
I now see that the federal government made Fuel Quality Standards Regulations in 2019 and legislated a Fuel Quality Standards Act in 2020.
