In 1974, Barry Manilow had a number one hit in the US with a song called Mandy. The song was originally called Brandy and had been a minor UK hit for singer-songwriter Scott English.
Anyway, the first part of the chorus reads:-
Oh, Mandy
Well, you came
And you gave without taking
But I sent you away
Back in early 1998, I had a Mandy, literally named Mandy. She was besotted with me and she unquestionably accepted my response / actions towards her. For example, 8:45 on a weekday night, Id be bored (or horny), Id phone her and ask her to come over to my place and shed do so immediately. 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon, Id phone her out-of-the-blue, ask her to go and see a movie with me, and she would agree. I cant remember her ever saying No to me.
The problem was, I had only recently separated from my wife and I didnt want another full time relationship.
My relationship with Mandy ended in July 1998 when I went overseas (where I remained for the next 20 years).
Since returning to Australia, I've done extensive internet searches for Mandy (more than once), without success. No doubt, she now has a different surname.
I have no idea what would happen if I ever located Mandy. Obviously, her relationship status would be paramount.
So, do you have a Mandy or a Mark?

Slightly confusing you lost someone who you were using and now you are looking for her to begin all over as if nothing happened? I think that people would conclude that you are stalking.

I find it hard to believe this is a serious post.
You used someone totally for your own ends and took advantage of their emotions and now with 20 years more life experience it seems you wish to do the same again.
I ask this as a serious question: are you a psychopath? This condition can nowadays be determined by brain scans and tests.
If I ever meet Mandy I'll advise her to keep a very long distance from you.

I think watching and listening to any Barry Manilow concert would be very bad for you.

"I think watching and listening to any Barry Manilow concert would be very bad for you."
I heard the song on the radio this morning, which prompted me to post my account.
As for the other two 'contributors', I assume that they are not native speakers of English given their obvious low-level reading comprehension abilities.

Mein, one can only assume that your brain was temporarily in neutral when you wrote this. A forum on caravanning is not the place for discussing personal relationships and I can't think that any of our posters would be in the least interested in your efforts as a would be Lothario. Not one of your better ideas????
PS Mandy wherever you are, make yourself invisible.

In my late teens I knew a Mandy, she was known as Randy Mandy because of her liberal favours to us guys.

It appears that Mandy has moved on and maybe you should do the same.
Interfering in anothers life after such a long time is not respectful. Your expectation of this woman is not healthy.
Leave her alone.
Maybe we should have a lonely hearts forum.

So, I made this post in "I digress ..."which is sub-captioned, "Grab a cuppa and join us for a friendly off topic chat"
To me, "off topic" means absolutely any subject unrelated to traveling / caravanning.
The majority of responses to my post are decidedly unfriendly and, actually, ill-informed and inapplicable.
Mandy and I worked for the same company for 3½ years, in different departments. Over a long period of time, our in-office chit chats became more frequent. We just clicked.
I was married and Mandy had a live in boyfriend. I met her boyfriend and Mandy met my wife at various company social outings.
In November 1987, my ex wife and I decided to go our separate ways.
At the office Christmas party in December 1987, Mandy told me that she had split up with her boyfriend 6 months earlier. She also told me that she had long fancied me.
I did not want to rush into another full time relationship but in January 1998, I did invite Mandy to have dinner with me, and so began a six month affair.
Having visited Thailand several times with my ex wife, I was aware of the opportunity to secure employment as an English teacher.
I decided that I'd go and work as an English teacher in Thailand for one year and I did a CELTA course at CharlesDarwinUniversity.
Throughout my 6 month affair with Mandy, I spoke to her often about my desire, and plan, to work in Thailand for 1 year.
As things turned out, I remained living and working in Asia for 20 years.
When I returned to Australia, I tried to track down many former friends, both male and female, including Mandy. I had no expectations whatsoever of outcomes for any successful contacts with old friends. Twenty years is a long time. But, being a normal human, I was curious as to what became of my old friends.
I don't regret my decision to go to Thailand. I don't regret my choice to remain in Asia (which, incidentally, included 10 years in China) for 20 years. However (again, being a normal human), I did/do wonder how things would have progressed with Mandy had I not left Australia.
