Two guys who worked together in a garment factory were both made redundant, so off they went to Centrelink.
Asked about his occupation, the first guy says, Panty stitcher. I sew the elastic onto cotton underwear
The customer service officer looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classed as unskilled labour, she gives him $300, a fortnights unemployment pay.
The second guy was asked his occupation.
Diesel fitter, he replies.
Since diesel fitter is a skilled job, the service officer gives the second guy $600 a fortnight.
When the first guy finds out hes furious. He storms back in to find out why his friend and co-worker are collecting double his pay. The service officer explains: Panty stitchers are unskilled and diesel fitters are skilled labour.
