I might think that the potted idea would be good and is not the problem. the problem is both the unreliability of these silly parts and secondly the stupid high price to buy replacements.
I have been happy with the quality of Honda gear in the past but the spares have been a ripoff but not often needed. However as the cheap clones improve the problem is resolved by market forces.

Capitalists call them "market forces". The rest of us know them as "greed" and "self interest".

Seriously happy with my Honda. Hate to think how many hours I have on it. 3 1/2 days straight durning this latest power out here in SEQ. If the inverter module goes, Ill just buy a new generator. Current one owes me nothing.

The stupidity of this design irritates me. Honda could have easily separated the "smarts" from the power semis with two separate modules. Then it would be worth repairing.

Thanks dorian, for your info, am very happy with our Honda, but if if falters in the future with a similar problem I will look elsewhere.

In the past I have followed the 'Right to Repair' lobbies. I really hope that they get whatever they are trying to do. It's a terrible waste if things have to be thrown away just because they're too difficult to repair.

Its not that its too dificult to repair its the excessive cost of parts. The modules are set in resin as vibration plays havock with electronics & there conections to the circuit board. They also would rather you buy another generator, its Consumerism. Also if you search enough ive found pictures of inverter honda engines that have droped a valve, thrown a con rod. Plastic over head cam pulley braking & destroying the engine. Ive found cheap inverter generators use timing chains or push rods. So not plastic crap that Honda uses. I would never buy a over priced second hand Honda.

That is the fundamental problem.
But how do you fix it?

Hi Honda brush cutters are the same ,nothing special and well overpriced .
Look in the Usa for the same parts , Kubota tractor parts are often half price compared to Ozzy.
Diesel spares in ozzy 2-4 x the cost of anywhere else . Australian ""border tax"" hard at work

Capitalism supposedly fixes itself by attracting more greedy and self-interested suppliers into the market.
However, legislation which prohibits parallel importing in many cases subverts this self healing capitalist principle.
