I'm not very technical but have some limited knowledge. Would appreciate yours views on the following:
I have a 50 AMP Anderson Plug on my tow vehicle that supplies charge to the batteries in my van. (Heavy duty cable wired by an Auto Electrician many years back)
I also have a 50amp Anderson Plug on the van which is wired to the 12V section of my three way fridge.(Anderson plug with heavy duty cable was already fitted when I purchased the van)
I have purchased A heavy duty wired double adapter Anderson Plug.
Can I plug this into the vehicle and run power to both my caravan batteries and fridge whilst driving; would this be an issue.
My question would also be; should I have an auto electrician install a separately wired 50amp Anderson Plug on my vehicle just for the fridge.
I haven't tried with the double adapter because I am somewhat hesitant in case I cause any electrical damage.
Would appreciate your views.
PS Yes I asked a auto electrician and his answer was, "should be ok". Didn't make me feel confident. (I live in a small country town so not a lot of choice for advice.)

My first van was wired that way , a loop was wired between the fridge supply and to batteries, same as your proposal. Worked well, fridge always cold n batteries charged when arriving at destination.
So our new van has been wired same way, no problems. Just make sure your start battery in car is protected by a VSR (voltage sensing relay) and you need to remember to turn the fridge over to gas or off when you stop or it will quickly discharge the van batteries.

Hi Chris & Sharyn,
Thank you for the quick reply to my query earlier today.
I really appreciated your response and its good to know that you have a similar setup.
I guess its time to plug her in.
Cheers
Bob

Hi Bob, I started a thread a couple of days before you, you may want to read that, what you are asking will depend on what size the heavy duty cable is on your tug.
