Over the years, I've noticed members of this forum are far less tolerant of the opinions/views of others than on other forums/communities I visit.
I believe it has a lot to do with advancing years and fixed Idea's, it used to bother me, now I tend to sidestep abrasive posters/topics.
Better things to do than argue about trivia.

It can be remedied, the first step is to admit that one has it.

The only issue with testosterone therapy now is that, as far as I am aware after a discussion with my doctor late last year, the Federal Govt has made it a requirement for testosterone to only be prescribed by a urologist. I put that forward as a long term user of testosterone therapy, and an advocate for its effectiveness with respect to mood and depression control, my requirement.
Hopefully others may find something different if they enquire of their GP.
As for your other point, re intolerance of others opinion, it has unfortunately become somewhat more prevalent, and is often manifested as a reversion to name calling if a person expresses a contrary view. It is rather less frequently manifested by reasoned and reasonable discussion. I suggest it is becoming more prevalent as we appear to be attracting more experts in everything. Certainly the forum has become less attractive to participate in than it was several years ago. As an aside, it is no worse than the other place I visit for caravan matters, but that is hardly a ringing endorsement! PS. Sorry for the exclamation mark.

I have been told, one recent example, all I post is garbage.
Other forums can go dozens of pages & resurrected multiple times & continue in a constructive manor.
Here we are lucky to get to 40 posts. Poor show!

I am also a reddit user Mike, but it is not lost there much if you get abused, it usually results in a temporary ban, then a perma ban, which is why I like it, plus 195 million user's/members, and over 50,000 sub reddits, so a lot more interesting ideas,, many millions of different view points and very helpful info.

I'm only on one other forum, a nature photography based one for 13 years.
Everyone on it is polite & members post mostly constructive comments only.
Its membership average age is far younger than this forum.
If you argue you're off it immediately no questions asked.

As Mike says, much of the true communication and the nuance of language is lost when face to face is lost. That does contribute towards some of the issues seen on fora. Nothing tempers comment like personal proximity.
I think that anonymity on a forum removes a great deal of inhibition from some, who with the very remote chance of ever meeting the people they converse with in cyber space, where if they did I suspect they would be a lot less forthcoming with comment or attitude, feel little if any need to remain civil if they wish to express themselves.
If there is any push back by others on the forum to that sort of thing, that is when things degenerate, with a common outcome that those who do object get told they should just scroll on by. I dont understand why some have to miss the general concept of the thread, because a few find it hard to be bit less what they consider to be forthright.
Perhaps if everyone counted to 10 before they posted, considered how there post could be construed and what they would do if directed at them, we could see a return to robust discussion without the sarcasm, cynicism and at time nastiness that prompted 86GTS to start this thread.

I think there are a few people on here that have been dumped from other forums, there lies the problem, they have entertained us with their bad manners and lack of respect for anyone who dissagrees with their opinion Moderators on other forums seem a little more reactive than here, I think ours could do a whole lot better than letting a post get tooo toxic. cheers Ian

Travelling around this fantastic country enjoying all it has to offer should be an overwhelmingly enjoyable experience. It sure beats working for a living.
On a forum like this I was surprised that there was so much aggressive behavior.
As I posted originally, if you're having trouble controlling mood swings, something is wrong & you need to do something about it.

86GTS, you are correct to some degree although I don't think its just an age thing.
Some people don't just get cranky, nasty, moody, call it what you want, because of age. Most people like that have been like it all their lives, well thats what I have found in my 66yrs of living. Just not nice people, simples, thats life!!
Older people dont just turn into , bigots, racists, women haters, bullies or just plain nasty people, they are born like it and go through life with big chips on their shoulders. Thats why some of these people are single in their old age, "some" of the partners have just had enough and bugger off!!
The other thing that some of these nasties hate is someone who's opinion is different to theirs, they are intolerant of other peoples, totally.
Sadly that's life I think, but I certainly have met some younger folk with similar personalities who likewise are not very nice and will grow into old bitter and twisted people, just like some on here
Anyway thats just my opinion and I am sure their are others out there that will think I'm a *%#$@$$#@# as well
