Gee ill miss battling the traffic to get on/off the boat.
If you think that the cost is expensive, youll have a heart attack if you go to Kangaroo Is.
Cost me $1800 for SOT for a 12 hr trip while the KI ferry cost me $600 for a 45min trip

Not good news for people approaching from the East having to drive thru Melbourne & right around Port Phillip Bay or using the quite expensive Sorrento-Queenscliff Ferry to get there.
Geelong City Council are red hot on illegal parking & no free camps within cooee.

The Port of Melbourne upped the berthing costs. They want more room for the cruise ships so not sad to see it go to Geelong. Time will tell if its a financially viable option.

It will be a shame to miss the evening cruise around the bay though.

I am quite happy to spend the money on a suite on the Spirit of Tasmania. Really enjoyed the pointy end of the boat.
But Kangaroo Island ferry tickets, I can think of better things to spend money on.
Spirit of Tassie will leave from a new Geelong terminal from this Spring. Much better than driving through Melbourne.
Pity it costs too much to take a van across. Two new ships on order too!
