Hi Burgo. I had an extra leaf added to my 2014 DMax and it is firm but ok.
I carry a few things in the tub so the ride is fine. When towing it is really good but I imagine if I was not towing and the tub was empty I would lose a few fillings from my teeth on rough roads.

Hello dmaxer. Putting van on doesnt alter ride ,rough as guts to ride in and empty its a nightmare. Think l need the softer suspension as Im not putting enough weight to sink it down ,ball weight of van 180 and not much in tub .

The ball weight of my van is about the same as yours and also it did not sink the back at all when hooked up. The reason I got the extra leaf was more a precaution and had noticed others had done that.
With leaf springs you dont get the comfort as you do with coils and DMax is more a work horse than a touring car.
I found the tech help at Isuzu helpful, why not give them a call. They had one of their engineers call me when I enquired. I found the dealers just give you the usual non committal answer but the tech section are helpful.

G'day Burgo1, DMaxer,
It looks like this is in the wrong tab but I'll continue here.
I had my suspension changed today & without a workout, my initial feeling is that it feels more like the 3-leaf spring sets that my car came with - before Isuzu said they were unsafe. It is firm but feels softer - I'll see how it goes on the drive home next week. Won't be towing our van but a hired trailer instead - with some furniture on board.
I fitted a 0-300kg Fulcrum Suspension. The car came up 60mm on the front (have a steel bull bar), 47 on the back. A friend back home with an earlier model D-Max fitted a 300kg constant load suspension on the back for towing. He said without their heavy camper on the back the ride is quite rough so I think I have gone the right way.
