My van is due for rego next month, now I am willing to register it for 12 months, but that would be pensioner rego, so it doesn't cost me anything, but a new owner would have to pay the fee if they are not pensioners. Should I just pay the fee myself, instead of doing it the other way, or should I just make it that they pay if they buy, and are not pensioners. I have had a lot of interest. No one has mentioned the rego issue, but wondering whether it could be a problem against the sale. If by chance it take me six months to sell it, I would have lost half which is $120. I know it is not much to most people, but it is a cost that we on low payments cannot really afford. Just want some possible thoughts on it.

Ric, keep it on Pensioner insurance if you sell the new owner is up for stamp duty anyway to transfer rego/ownership additional rego is insignificant.

Be upfront about the rego. Advise potential buyers that it's registered to a pensioner at no cost and they (the buyer) will have to pay for registration as well as transfer costs.
A lot of people would not be aware that pensioners pay no or subsidized registration and it is up the purchaser, of such a vehicle, to pay the correct amount.

Thankyou, will do, also got advice from a friend along the same lines. Have not had any visitors to ask, as everyone has been locked down.
