I have my mobile phone and a mobile wifi device on a monthly contract/plan with Telstra.
I received an email yesterday from Telstra? Saying they will be increasing my 200gb data on my wifi device to 400gb and an extra $10 month charge. I don't have a major problem with that however,
The email said if I click the box below I would get a $5 credit each month for six months, if I didn't click, no credit.
I sent a request to Telstra via the Telstra app asking is this from them or a scam, no reply Yet.
Has anyone else received this email? Outcome?
I am on a monthly contract and find it annoying that Telstra can increase cost and data during the contract period.

Hi Doug,
I don't doubt that the email is a scam. The strange thing is that the cost and increase data offer is basically true.
Our circumstances have recently changed with regard to the data allowance we require and when Angie enquired with Telstra about a 200 gb plan we got 400gb for the same price after she noticed on their website the offer for the 400 gb plan.
Basically we got the 400 gb for 12 months for the cost of the 200 gb plan and the price increases by $10 in a year.
We now have more than enough data for our new requirements.
I would definitely not click on that link and expect a good result.
We do all our communications with Telstra on there app for members and for our Boost phones we use the members Boost app. Both Telstra and Boost have *chat* facilities for enquiries and changing accounts.

Thanks boys for the replies. I contacted Telstra through the 'My Telstra' app and finally got a reply about an hour ago. The person? replying had slightly poor written english but pretty good just the same. Said all OK and they could change to the 400gb then and there. We chatted back and forth and I was tempted to go ahead on the spot but then I was asked a few questions I feel they didn't need so backed away.
I discovered I wasn't actually on a contract.
I will just wait and see what happens now on 9/10 when the email said the change would take place.
I too checked their plans etc and noticed the 200gb is no longer and is now 400gb at $85 per month.

Hi again Doug,
My deal is no contract, we are only on a prepaid plan, we just pay monthly.
Our current cost is $75 but will go up to $85 after 12 months.
Unfortunately these Telcos like to sign you up for a contract rather than a pre paid plan.
I guess they get a better commission or something.

All you have to say is "Yes", and you will be on a contract.

Hi Doug. I had a similar message from Telstra telling my data will be increased (which I dont need) and of course a price increase. I found a phone number for Telstra on an old phone bill, rang and spoke to a very polite lady, in Australia. Even though I have been with Telstra for years, there was nothing I could do to change their offer. Only go for less data to save a few bucks. Hope that helps.

Have been getting a few messages with a range of deals lately "from" Boost? Only ever had one issue which was sorted out by Telstra very quickly.
I am on prepay 12 months $150 for the last few years. Don't stream so plenty of data & all the international calls to Europe we need.
Also had a few phone scams lately, it's been pretty quiet in this respect for the last few years, that my internet is going to be cut off in 24 hours.
