An interesting thought - I get ChinaVirus at work - do I have to take
my sick leave or is the Company responsible thru Workers Comp insurance?
What if I die - will there be a Coroners Inquiry - compensation for family,
prosecution of the Company re unsafe workplace and so-on.
Haven't heard much about the implications or responsibilities so far.

i would think it would be the same as if you caught the flu or any other disease , if you were required to wear PPE and it was not supplied or was not up to scratch or the proper protocols were not met, you might get a shot at a claim . i would think that there maybe few claims in the near future , so your question might be answered .
what about nurses/doctors, if they get some disease from their work environment how are they treated ?
what happens if you are the person who brought it into the work place would you be the person held liable ?

You are expected to protect yourself and the first step to that is get vaccinated.

There are only two things to worry about - will you get sick or not? If you don't get sick nothing to worry about. If you do get sick you can worry whether you live or die. If you don't die you've nothing to worry about. If you do die no more worries

Usual disclaimer, that as I not a lawyer, I can not give an answer
But...my opinions are
I really do doubt, if anyone could make a claim, if they said they had caught the "ChinaVirus"
As to the best of my knowledge, there is no such disease
If someone claimed to have caught, Covid-19 virus at work, and made a workers compensation claim
Then I am sure that the insurance company, would be blaming them for bringing the Covid-19 virus, into the workplace
As others have already said, by the time you realise you have caught Covid-19, you have probably already passed it on to someone else, unless you had been isolating

Interesting question! The difference is that climate change is natural,has happened regularly over millions of years,and will recur many times,long after we've all gone.Despite all the PC spit,there is nothing we can do that will do anything of significance to change nature.Covid,on the other hand,is a manmade disease,and it kills people.Cheers

I wonder if the burning/using 14600 million litres of oil per day might just have somewhat of an impact on the climate, if not the weather? Best calculations set that as how much oil is used each and every day on Earth.
That HASNT been the case for millions, or even thousands of years, so we really dont have totally accurate data to compare at the moment. Certainly I would be more inclined to put an override comment along the lines of past performance being no guarantee of future performance on any comments about the validity of either side of the climate change argument. Just saying a cautious approach cant hurt.
An open, inquisitive mind may just wonder if there may be the possibility we are changing things in some ways.
Perhaps its just as well that estimates of oil reserves suggest we may just run out in approx 50 years, that may just save us from ourselves if we find different fuels to use. Interesting times still ahead for both Covid and climate change!
By the way Brodie, back on topic, I hope you dont get Covid to see if workers comp covers you!

I am using a P2 mask these days & realise just how much harder it is to breathe as no air sneaks in around the side like the surgical masks.
Using a P2 for a job while standing is ok. But while walking around a shop, it is a bit of effort breathing in.

You want to start educating yourself a little more Yobarr...man has certainly contributed to climate change in a big way. Climate change is natural but we have accelerated it to a whole new level with our raping and abuse of the earths resources. I,d say most of our problems are caused by pure greed.

Exactly. If a claim was submitted then down the track your whole personal life would be investigated on the premise that if you visited shops, brothels, your neighbour...all could transmit Covid.

I think this is really about long covid.
You would need to show it was on balance most likely attributed to work.
A nurse in a covid ward or cleaner at a quarantine facility would more than likely have a very good case.
Work as a barman, a lot harder to prove.

I have a twin filter respirator when cutting out bricks or longer spray painting jobs. You have to put effort in sucking air in through the filters. You can only do it for so long & you need a break.
