Space dust must be causing the "rise of the oceans" then. "The Earth gets 100 tons heavier every day due to falling space dust"

I think the earth is getting heavier because of all the woke people pigging out on smashed avocado on toast, there's a price for trying to be trendy.

I approached this list with my usual scepticism but was unable to find any fact which was obviously wrong. That said, I do have some questions.

I found one forum thread where someone suggested that sunflower oil has slightly better properties than peanut oil. However, the more important observation was that a significant number of people have a peanut allergy.

"Warner Communications paid 28 million for the copyright to the song Happy Birthday, which was written in 1935!"
Actually, Warner paid $28m for Birch Tree Group Limited, a company which claimed ownership of the copyright to Happy Birthday To You.
The final important concept is that of mass ratio. This is how we quantify how much fuel a spacecraft needs. A spacecraft has a wet mass -- its gross mass, full of fuel and a dry mass -- its empty mass, with dry tanks. The mass ratio is simply the ratio of wet mass to dry mass. The higher the mass ratio, the greater the fraction of the spacecrafts wet mass is fuel.
Virgin Galactics SpaceShipOne has a mass ratio of about 3, which means its two-thirds fuel by mass at the beginning of the mission. Note that SpaceShipOne is merely a suborbital rocket it follows a ballistic trajectory that briefly enters space before falling back to Earth, somewhat resembling an artillery shells flight.
On the other hand, the orbital spacecraft have much higher mass ratios. The Space Shuttle had a mass ratio of 16, making it almost 94% fuel by mass at launch. The mass of everything that wasnt fuel: its structure, engines, avionics, life support systems, control systems and oh yes, dont forget the crew and the payload had to fit within the remaining 6%. The only reason it could get away with such a high mass ratio at launch is because it leveraged staging.

I often wonder how and where these "facts" originate. Trying to find the source of the 530kg figure proved fruitless -- all the searches turned up references to the same list of facts. It's a lot like religion -- if you ask someone to prove that their god exists, they will tell you that it says so in the Bible. I suspect that someone may have invented this number and then watched it go round the Internet. It seems harmless enough, but then the same methodology is probably responsible for QAnon.

This would suggest a mass ratio of 531:1. That's much higher than the 16:1 ratio of the Space Shuttle, and 3:1 for Virgin Galactic.
