Hello, we have black checkerplate on the front of our caravan. Over time it has become quite dull. What suggestions are there for polishing it to make black and shiny again. So far we have tried Tyre Black (looked good but washed off with first shower of rain, WD40 (attracted dust), Nu Look Once a Year Polish (did nothing and it is still dull).
open to suggestions and particularly those that have been tried and have worked.
Cheers
Val.

If the treadplate is black it will more than likely be powder coated. Clean it properly, mask it up & get about 4 cans on 150 gram black touch up paint from an automotive outlet.

I use Mr Sheen to maintain Powder Coat finishes, the front of the Van won't get a gloss finish from polishing as it's a Satin finish, but the Mr Sheen will bring it back to life again.

I have a BMW motorbike called a triple black, and as the name suggests it has a lot of black paint on it.
I went to Supercheap and purchased some black polish. Turtle wax colour magic.
All of the black bits, incuding the plastic bits are now polished with this. It makes quiet a bit of difference to the appearance.
About $30 for a 500 ml bottle.
The new caravan I have ordered will have black checker plate to the lower half, the one pice upper section will be treated by Vantec before I pick it up.

Hi, Ive just used Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer from Supercheap on mine and Im very pleased with it. Its not a shiny finish like tyre black but more of a restored look. Its rubbed into the checker plate with a cloth.

The only thing I have found that seems to have any effect is Xtreme Detail Polish (Spray Polish) from Wilko's Pro Shine. Just be sure to follow the directions to a T for best results. Don't do what I did and use a cutting compound followed by a powdery base polish/wax product or you will be cursing and spending literally days trying to get it all off from the checker plate ridges.
You can contact the company via phone and they can send it to you on 07 4152 6416. They are in Bundaberg Queensland.
You can thank me later!

Here is a photo of the Black Checker Plate on our 2018 van located under the Queensland Sun but always outside, never under cover. Kept like this with Wilko's Extreme Detail spray on polish as advised earlier.
