Have read a couple of stories about the tap getting hit and broken by stones, so thought this should lessen any impact, cost maybe 50 cents, didnt stab myself either with the bag needle.

The idea of a cover is good.
Also, protecting the gas hoses reduces the internal rubber from perishing.

G'day Craig,
I notice that you use the rubber-braid flexible hoses on your bottles. I'm guessing you haven't had the problem of gas blockages caused by the rubber deteriorating. Unfortunately the rigid copper lines create another issue when gas bottles have to be removed for filling!

Try going for S-Core hoses. I have attached a link for your reading.
Thanks, but, yellow has been the second worst colour for uv resistance. I have asked the supplier as well, like the other specs though

My bottles and hoses are in the darkness of my front boot.
Could you use split conduit to cover the hoses from sunlight?

The manufacturer of these fancy hoses just said " they use yellow because it is the normal colour code for gas ", no advice on the uv factor. So will probably try the split conduit.

I cover the front of the van - gas bottles, fuel cans, electrical connections, etc. with a modified tarpaulin when the van is in storage or on site for more than a day or two. This slows down the weathering.
Just a double layer of shade cloth, with a bit of ladder type plastic as a tie
Cheers,
Peter
