A long time ago, for a joke( she didn't laugh), I bought my wife new a New Self Driving Lawnmower for mothers day. She was not impressed. I explained that she complained about the steepness of our lawn, when she mowed, so I said, I was making it easier for her. All day, she had the ****'s. Then, at 4.30pm, a salesman turned up at our door, and gave her a set of keys. It was for a new Mini Moke Californian that was out in the driveway. She was estatic. She had been talking about Mokes for 2 years, and always wanted one, so I got one for her for Mother's Day. The reason she was mowing the lawn all the time, I had two jobs going at the same time. Soldiering during the day, and for a fair while driving taxis at night, so was not really available to mow the lawn at the end of the week.

My ex father-in-law often quoted the saying:
"A true gentleman never borrows a lawnmower which is too heavy for his wife to push".

The wife brings up this story all the time about what I bought her for one mother's day, at happy hours, or when meeting new people, rarely mentions the Moke. Do you think she is still having a dig at me all these years later?

I am still looking for it, myself, as I bought an old 850cc version, to restore, and had it for 4 years. Got an offer I should have refused, and sold it., after one today, as the economy is very good, and they are such a fun vehicle. No good in an accident, I bet though.
