Well, let's start with the Lux ad. It appears to date back to the 50s or 60s. It makes reference to a woman's vagina, and it does so by way of a slang term. Then it tells the reader that it smells like a dead fish. Something does smell fishy, and I don't mean the woman's mimsy.
Then there's the ad where the kid is eating a slab of butter. Notice that the slab is precariously balanced on the tip of a single tine of his fork, a sure sign of bad Photoshopping. Here is the original ad:
"About seven or eight years ago, I [RJ White] made this fake ad, exhorting parents to give soda to their babies. It was done on a bored afternoon when J.D. Ryznar asked for someone to make that very specific thing on his livejournal. I whipped it together, posted it to the web, joke over."

Some of the ads are amusing and reflect days gone by.
The Lux send up is in extremely poor taste, most thinking people would find it offensive.

Did you also hate the person who told you that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny weren't real?
I would have thought that someone who had lived on this earth for 60 or more years would have learnt to spot BS when he's looking straight at it.

Nothing wrong with getting the facts right - Go Dorian
I like the Lux Ad, it wonder some of us survived the 50's.
Cheers Bob
Yep, It's not what I normally do.
Just goes to show that nothing has changed, in the last 70 years or so
Advertising is there to sell stuff, and if they become economical with the truth, then who was to know
Are any of the ads genuine?
Yes.
ps well done Craig :)
Which ones?
The Lux ad is certainly a spoof.
