I lived in Longreach in the late 60's and there were 8 pubs.
I can remember/name these
1 Commercial
2 Palace
3 Royal
4 Lyceum
5 Welcome home
6 Central
Can anyone help with the name of the other two???
one was next door to the Royal??
one was "opposite" the railway station??
cheers Bilbo

Mine would only be a guess ..
Imperial & there would have to be a Railway in there somewhere.

Had a scrounge on Google and it said that the Imperial burnt down in 1954. The Railway Hotel was renamed The Midlander at some stage but I couldn't find when or if it's still there. Cheers.

The pub opposite the railway (I thought) was the Midlander.....someone told me the pub (and building??) have been gone for a long time.
From memory the pub next to the Royal was not the Imperial (but I stand corrected).
cheers Bilbo

Yep .. Most country towns with the railway had a pub opposite called The Railway so the change of name to The Midlander sounds right.
Of course lots of towns had a George or Royal George. I don't see one of those on your list.
