Difficult to get the real information without all the scaremongering though. And the rumour spreading . And the reported bickering between all of our leaders.
But Dictator Dan has been remarkably quiet since his return.

Dan is smart. Never create distractions when the opposition, Gladys, is self imploding.

If he's smart he will stay that way, perhaps he's come to realise its better to keep schtum.

Dan Andrews knows how to clean up a mess, Berejiklian knows how to create them. She gambled with our lives, and lost. Even her coalition partner said she should have locked down one week earlier than she did. Money before people, that's the conservative ethos.

No, I haven't forgotten, but apparently Gladys has.

We are on Sydney's northern beaches & had a short 3 week lockdown over Christmas. Our neighbours were all very surprised Gladys didn't lockdown earlier.

Been doing this in SA for over 12 months, yes, those without phones are able to check in with pen and paper, assuming of course they are able to read and write.

Store management are obligated by Law to ensure "Check-in" registration - If no QR Code, they must ensure customer details and times are recorded - If customer cannot read nor write, the Store Management MUST ensure that customer details are adequately recorded.

Scott Morrison didnt bring it in. It came in unannounced originally, before safeguards could be put in place, as normally happens in a world pandemic. I assume those who lay the blame at Morrisons feet would have been as quick to lay it at Julia Gillard or Kevin Rudds if they had been in power. Timing is everything!
The sooner we stop blaming, and start trying to find workable strategies to live with Covid as an underlying disease similar to the flu, measles and the like, the better we will be. People have made errors in the handling of it, sure, but it is not limited to those of any particular political persuasion.
Its like the vaccination argument to me. Vaccinate or not. Do as you wish, but accept that there are risks either way. That may include medical, financial and movement/social risks, what ever your choice. If others choose to exclude non vaccinated people From places or activities, that is a reasonable choice as well, and I wouldnt want to hear complaints about that.

Sigh. You do realise that under Morrison, Australia went against the recommendations of the World Health Organisation by restricting travel well before WHO recommended doing so.
On 29 February 2020, WHO specifically advised against restrictions.
"WHO continues to advise against the application of travel or trade restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks. In general, evidence shows that restricting the movement of people and goods during public health emergencies is ineffective in most situations ......."
The goal of WHO and purpose for their existence is to protect our health, and be the world experts for advice on such matters. Fortunately, Morrison disregarded that advice and had started restricting travel a month before even that advice not to do so. Of course he was unpopular at the time for enforcing such restrictions and quarantines, widescale cancellation of holidays and not allowing relatives to come here. Of course that is all forgotten in the blame game.

BTW, I think that the 'free world' is on the verge of a fundamental change away from Reganism/Thatcherism where the ethos was 'If the Govt can do it then free enterprise can do it better'. The Covid global economic shock & the Chinese great leap forward resulting from the massive investment by the CCP has shown up the fallacy of Reganism/Thatcherism/trickle down economics. It'll be interesting to see how long Au remains an outlier in this area too. (PS I tried to slant this as an Economic and not Political comment)

Not to forget that China lowered the definition of poverty so more people were out of poverty.
Most people do not have health care & you have to come up with the cash. Dental health care is a joke.
Give it a few years & they may be forcing women to have 2 children, a 180° about turn.
Let's not forget the 50+ millions empty apartments which the Chinese people has invested in.
The country is smoke & mirrors, & a house of cards.

I know that much of what you say is true, I have seen examples of it with my own eyes, but don't overlook its achievements with Military equipment, electronics/communications of all sorts and a vast range of often sophisticated manufactured goods (a lot of trash in there too).
